If you have been stopping by here for a while, you know we like the 42X saw set. The problem is that they are getting harder and harder to find. As a result, I've been evaluating other vintage sets to include here. The 42SS was a more modern saw set which was designed to set teeth from 4 to 16 point teeth. After some use, this is a surprisingly good saw set for general use. The biggest difference is the rotating type anvil and the fact that the set does not grip the blade during use like the 42X does. It does have an adjustable block to line up the blade and provides for even, repeatable set.

This set is complete as sold 75 years ago new in the box with instructions and paste board box with metal reinforced edges. They don't come in much nicer condition. A good alternative to the 42X and unlike the 42X, you can set finer teeth.
