Simonds Model 111 One Man Cross Cut |
I bought these pristine, like new, one man cross cut saws quite some time ago. They came in a wooden crate, destined for an Army Depot in Pennsylvania. These saws are made by Simonds, and date to the 1930s. I think that these saws were intended for use during WWII for soldiers to clear trees and brush to move equipment around the battlefield. As you can see from the photos below, these saws are MINT. By mint, I mean never used, coated in cosmoline and wrapped in green wax paper just like the day they left the plant in Fitchburg, MA. The cosmoline is very soft, and has preserved these saws as if they were in a time capsule. They come as shown, 5' length complete with the auxiliary handle which can be fastened to the blade near the handle or at the opposite end to convert the saw into a two man cross cut. The catalog inset shown directly below is scanned from the Simonds 1923 full line catalog. If you are looking for a saw like this to use, or just want a pristine example for your collection, this is for you. I have several available, as with all the saws for sale on my site, first come, first served. $450 plus exact shipping to your zipcode via fedex ground calculated at time of order.
