Here you will find saws made by makers other than Disston. I have to admit, I have a prefernce for Disston saws. Maybe it was because they were the biggest, maybe because they were the most innovative and maybe it's because I was born in Pennsylvania where they were made. At any rate, there were other makers who made saws everty bit as functional and as good as those made by Disston.
Like other saws for sale on the site, these saws are sold sharp, set and ready to cut. Buy with confidence, if you see it here, it will get the job done.
O1 Newark Saw Company. Made by Richardson Brothers out of Newark NJ, circa 1875. In fabulous shape for a saw this old, this 5 point rip is 7 1/4" wide at the heel. Handle of apple which is in exceptional shape. Blade has light patina, etch faint. Saw rates fine - overall. A great full length rip from an early maker. Scarce. $110 Sorry...Sold!
O3 Bishop. High on the gizmosity scale, this saw actually works very well and is a good idea. One side is cut with 12 point cross cut teeth, the other with 8 point rip teeth. A lever on the reverse allows the user to flip the blade to use the opposite edge. Fitted with a 14" blade 4" high, this saw also excels at another use...that of cutting a kerf of a certain depth. Since the bar that holds the blade is flat on the bottom, by adjusting the amount the blade protrudes from the bar, you can regulate the depth of cut. A very handy feature. Fitted with an apple handle, this saw rates good+. Blade has moderate patina, but etch is bold. A two in one saw that looks as good as it cuts. Very scarce! $200 Sorry...Sold!
